So it's been a while since weve used the blog because well we were having a baby and then travelling Asia but we are back! Kicking off the new series of blog posts is our really exciting challenge for August. Obviously a lot of folk have been inspired by plastic free July and we are certainly on a bit of a mission to think about our waste more after seeing the problems they have with waste in Thailand.
My other HUGE passion is shopping small and supporting independants so I thought why not combine the two and create a month's worth of prompts for our Instagram followers.
So, heres how it will work; everyday we will cover a different topic as I really believe we can shop small for pretty much everything these days. We have a rough theme for each week such as home, kids, etc but some of these themes have more topics so it isn't always a weeks worth. We will post about our favourite small shops that sell items related to that daily topic and also a way in which we could cut down waste for that day. So as an example our topic might be kitchen packaging so we would reccomend a few buisness's but one might be Beeswaxwraps. We would then post about them and their products but we also may post a video on how to make your own. We are then asking for your reccomendations of shops in your stories using the #shopsmallwasteless and also share your daily waste reduction wins. Each week we will pick 4 winners to recieve a treat from us. All you have to do is share your favourite independants, use the hashtag so we can see you and just make the tiniest effort to reduce your waste. It could be as small as taking a reuseable cup to the coffee shop.
I am really hoping it helps us come across even more amazing small brands, help give some new brands a bit of exposure and inspires people to cut down their waste. I mean ultimately I just love chatting to everyone on instagram and finding out everyones passion for the incredible makers out there. (My bank balance and Husband do not love such discoveries.)
So who's joining us for our August challenge?
Next week on the blog we will be doing our pick of Summer holiday activities....its a long (and expensive) 6 weeks so we are going to bring you some inspiration to entertain those smalls!
